Look at other stats in addition to W-L. RPI, NET, Quadrants 1-4 wins/losses

strenth of schedule, good losses, bad losses, etc. Committee looks at a lot different data. For example, Baylor/Gonzaga/Kansas tied for #1 RPI with most quadrant 1 wins (9 each). That's one data used. Michigan who people thought should not be in it due to only 17 wins, had 5 quadrant 1 wins, and #11 seed. VT's mens RPI was #62 and SOS #75, which is big reason why they got #11 seed. Bad losses earlier in season really hurt them. But a lot experts saying these numbers are not taking into account what a team has done at last part of the year and into the tournament. They name VT as a good example, whom they feel should have been higher seed.

RPI for Women's Basketball:
#17 FL Gulf Coast
#24 Va Tech
Obviously, they're not in tough ACC women's BB, but there's more data in addition to RPI: SOS, Quadrant 1-4 wins, Quadrant 1-4 losses, etc. There are couple other things I didn't include, but these are the basics the Committee looks at. You can find this data online. Hope this helps.
